Saint-Clar is located in the southwest region of France in the Gers Departmente north of Gascony.
Growing garlic is a major industry in the area, and as a result Saint-Clar is known as the CAPITALE DE L’AIL BLANC, or Garlic Capital of France. Noted for its outstanding historical architecture and beauty of the surrounding countryside, Saint-Clar is a major tourism destination.
Saint-Clar became the second of the two original Sister Cities of Gilroy on April 15, 1985.
